Abstract
This document will aid in your upgrade preparations to an on-premise installation and/or to an IBM Cognos Analytics on Cloud offering, helping you to build your roadmap, identify key milestones, and plan accordingly from assessment to go live.
This document applies to In-Place upgrades from IBM Cognos Analytics version 11.x to 11.x. If you are upgrading by installing into a separate folder or are upgrading from a legacy version of IBM Cognos Business Intelligence, see the steps for 10.2 to 11 on the Upgrade Central Home page.

| UNDERSTANDING THE UPGRADE PROCESS | ||

Upgrading IBM Cognos Analytics is simpler than ever before. Version 11 allows you to apply regular releases in-place, saving time and resources, and bringing faster value to business users. Administrators may choose to either upgrade in-place or perform a separate installation in a fresh, new location.
Even better - If you've subscribed to one of our cloud offerings, all you need to do is request the next release!
If choosing to upgrade in-place, then your steps are simply:
