Planning Analytics scheduled chores erroneously execute twice.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Planning Analytics scheduled chores execute twice instead of executing once as per their defined schedule.

Symptom

  • Scheduled chores erroneously executes again exactly after an hour post its defined scheduled run.
  • For example if a chore is scheduled to execute at 11 AM Local time, the chore will execute twice once at 11 AM and again at 12 noon.
  • Issue only happens when chore is scheduled to run next after a very long duration, for example the chore showcased in the screen-print below is scheduled to run next after 999 days.
Chore

Cause

  • The chore erroneously runs twice as some users schedule the chore to run after a very long duration as per the example shared above.
  • Users schedule chore to execute after such a long duration as they want the chore to execute only once. This is not a good practice and it unnecessarily creates additional objects in the TM1 database and can cause issues if these chores are not cleaned up in time.
  • Daylight savings time get altered every year and hence scheduling for such long duration may cause the chore to interpret next run time incorrectly.

Resolving The Problem

Ensure chores are scheduled to execute on regular durations i.e. daily, weekly, monthly, yearly etc.
