Problem

Planning Analytics Administration (PAA) unable to display status of TM1 databases. The agent status is reflected as "unreachable" within PAA console.
Agent unreachable

Symptom

  • The agent shows up as "unreachable" within Planning Analytics Administration console.
  • Issue is only experienced if Planning Analytics and Workspace are installed over separate serves.
  • The bootstrap.properties file (<PA_install_location>/paa_agent/wlp/usr/servers/kate-agent) correctly reflects the agent version details
  • TM1 databases are accessible over Workspace without any issues.
  • tm1messages.log (<PA_install_location>\paa_agent\wlp\usr\servers\kate-agent\logs\messages.log) contains the following authentication errors.

00000028 com.ibm.pa.kate.adaptor.PAKateAgentAdaptor                   E Unable to get servers status for host, via Agent, when server name is:  | Status: 401 | Reason: Unauthorized

Cause

The issue is caused due to clocks not being synchronized over servers hosting Planning Analytics Administration Agent and Planning Analytics Workspace.
If clocks on Planning Analytics Administration Agent and Planning Analytics Workspace servers are not synchronized then the token created by monitor container will be considered as expired when it reaches the agent.

Resolving The Problem

  • Ensure that the clocks on the servers hosting Planning Analytics Administration Agent and Planning Analytics Workspace are synchronized.
  • Restart "Planning Analytics Administration Agent" service post synchronizing the clocks.
  • Restart Workspace Containers as well if issue persists post following the steps listed above.
