Is it possible to perform an in-place upgrade from Cognos Business Intelligence to Cognos Analytics?

Answer

In-place upgrade is a feature as of Cognos Analytics 11, which is not available for Cognos Business Intelligence. So you will have to install Cognos Analytics into a new directory, or first uninstall Cognos Business Intelligence if it needs to go in the same directory. Backups of Content Store (database and deployment) and installation directory prior is advised, to roll back if necessary. Also note that while upgrading to Cognos Analytics there is no requirement of versions in between (For example: If you want to upgrade to Cognos Analytics 11.0.9 from Cognos 10.2.2, you can upgrade directly and do not have to install the previous versions of Cognos Analytics).
