Abstract
The getDeploymentDescriptor on a module MBean may return a javax.management.MBeanException or an empty string.
Download Description
PK71779 resolves the following problem:
ERROR DESCRIPTION:?
A change in JEE5 to allow modules and applications to not have deployment descriptors resulted in a change in the MBean getDeploymentDescriptors method. The method returns incorrect output or an exception for Module MBeans.
LOCAL FIX:?
PROBLEM SUMMARY:?
USERS AFFECTED:
IIBM® WebSphere® Application Server V7.0 users accessing the getDeploymentDescriptor method on module MBeans.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The getDeploymentDescriptor on a module MBean may return a javax.management.MBeanException or an empty string.
RECOMMENDATION:
None
When getDeploymentDescriptor is called on a module MBean, we open a com.ibm.etools.commonarchive.EARFile against the module's archive path. When we attempt to get the deployment descriptor from the EARFile, we receive an exception or an empty string and return this to the caller. The exception gets wrapped in a javax.management.MBeanException
PROBLEM CONCLUSION:?
For module MBean, we now open the Enterprise Archive (EAR) File against the module's applications archive path and then get the deployment descriptor for the module.
The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 7.0.0.1.
