Problem
Unable to logon using the Web Console
Symptom
New install, cannot connect to web console, and the ICC Console (thick
Client) can only be accessed from the server where ICC is installed...
Get unable to launch application error when try to connect from
workstations...
Cause
Special characters in the database password

Control Center running on Windows
Resolving The Problem
1) Verify that WLP_PW_ENCODER_SPECIAL_CHARACTERS is not in
engine.properties. Since they cannot sign on to web console to check
this, have them do the following:
a) Run exportConfig.bat
b) Check file
<ICC-Install-Dir>\conf-exported\{todaysDate}\conf\engine.properties to
see if WLP_PW_ENCODER_SPECIAL_CHARACTERS is set.
c) If WLP_PW_ENCODER_SPECIAL_CHARACTERS is set, edit
<ICC-Install-Dir>/conf/installationInfo.properties and set
WLP_PW_ENCODER_SPECIAL_CHARACTERS=^,@,[,],{,},!,; and restart ICC. If
issue is still there, try 2 below.
d) If WLP_PW_ENCODER_SPECIAL_CHARACTERS was not set, do 2 below.
2) If issue is still there, edit
<ICC-Install-Dir>/conf/installationInfo.properties and set
WLP_PW_ENCODER_SPECIAL_CHARACTERS=^,@,[,],{,},!,;,#
3) Restart ICC and see if issue is still there.
4) If issue is still there, edit
<ICC-Install-Dir>/conf/installationInfo.properties and set
WLP_PW_ENCODER_SPECIAL_CHARACTERS=^,[,],{,},!,;,#
5) Restart ICC and see if the issue is still there
6) If issue is still there, edit
<ICC-Install-Dir>/conf/installationInfo.properties and set
WLP_PW_ENCODER_SPECIAL_CHARACTERS=^,[,],{,},!,;
7) Restart ICC and see if the issue is still there.
By the way, I checked the datacollector and
WLP_PW_ENCODER_SPECIAL_CHARACTERS does not show up in either the
engine.properties or the installationInfo.properties.
