At a Glance
Combine the ATA133 RAID Controller and economical EIDE hard disk drives (HDDs) to configure a low-cost RAID solution. The ATA133 RAID Controller offers these advantages:
  • Provides high performance - Supports HDDs with EIDE ATA/133 technology
  • Contains dual channels - Supports up to two HDDs per channel
  • Links HDDs to create a single virtual drive
  • Supports popular RAID levels 0, 1, and 10
  • Provides easy setup/configuration
  • Contains driver support for popular Windows and Linux network operating systems
  • Three-year, limited warranty provided by IBM
Overview
Protect data and improve performance on your entry server or advanced workstation by using low-cost EIDE RAID storage technology. The ATA133 RAID Controller delivers many basic RAID functions similar to that of higher cost SCSI RAID controllers, but at a fraction of the cost. This controller, combined with low-cost EIDE HDDs, creates an economical, internal RAID storage subsystem for selected eServer xSeries servers and IntelliStation workstations.

Solid, economical function
This two-channel, half-length PCI bus mastering controller supports ATA/133, ATA/100, and ATA/66 HDDs using the following popular RAID levels:
  • RAID striping (RAID 0) - Improves performance by using an array of drives set up as one virtual drive
  • Mirroring (RAID 1) - Provides fault-tolerance for high availability and data protection
  • Mirroring and striping (RAID 10) - Marries high performance with data protection
  • In the event of a failed drive in the array, the ATA133 RAID Controller can rebuild data automatically in the background and load it on a replacement drive. This ability helps:
    • Minimize disruption to network clients
    • Keep your business running smoothly

Ease-of-use

The ATA133 RAID Controller is easy to install and set up. It contains simple configuration utilities that allow you to tailor your RAID subsystem to support the following features:
  • Boot capability from the RAID configured array
  • Up to four HDDs per controller - Two HDDs per channel
  • Auto-rebuild for data protection
  • Array configuration and monitoring software
Compatibility
  • Supports popular network operating systems
  • Supports a range of high-performance, EIDE ATA-100 HDD options from IBM, up to 120 GB (1)
