Problem
Unable to start the server, nodeagent or dmgr. Receive error: ORBX0390E SSLContext could not be created due to null SSL properties.
Symptom
Unable to start the server, nodeagent or dmgr. Error received: ORBX0390E SSLContext could not be created due to null SSL properties.
In the SystemOut.log you will see the following corresponding error message:

If you run startserver servername -traces ( same thing for syncnode command) then you will see the following ClassNotFoundException in the exception stack trace:
Caused by:
java.net.SocketException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Cannot find the specified class com.ibm.websphere.ssl.protocol.SSLSocketFactory
The message indicates that the WebSphere SSL socket factory classes cannot be loaded.
Cause
Possible Root cause is noted below:
com.ibm.ws.security.crypto.jar has zero bytes caused by VMware "Hyperic and Vcenter Operations" in their system. See the following link

Resolving The Problem
Resolving the problem from WebSphere Application Server:
Restore this com.ibm.ws.security.crypto.jar jar from backup.
