Oracle listener/tnsnames setup for (SDU/TDU) through SQLNet TCPIP: DCS performance reduction/slowdown

Troubleshooting

Problem

Oracle listener/tnsnames setup for (SDU/TDU) through SQLNet TCPIP: DCS performance reduction/slowdown

Symptom

Oracle listener/tnsnames setup for (SDU/TDU) through SQLNet TCPIP: DCS performance reduction/slowdown

Cause

Resolving The Problem

The first thing to check for a DCS menu slowdown is if the SDU and TDU parameters are set on the server and the client side (if sqlnet is being used i.e. the protocol is TCP). These parameters should be set for the services in tnsnames.ora (client side) and listner.ora(server side) and should be set to 8k (8192) . Else the default value of 2k will be assigned to these pipes. As the data flow in DCS during queries is more that 2k, the resultant fragments will slow the system down.
