Oracle Error 1034

Troubleshooting

Problem

Oracle Error 1034

Symptom

Oracle Error 1034 while bringing up Yantra.

Cause

Resolving The Problem

For troubleshooting
1.Type in "oerr ora 1034" for any Oracle Error.
2.In this case Oracle is not available for the user.
3.The DBA needs to be contacted.

As a first step though verify if you are able to connect to sqlplus as "DBUSER/PASSWD". Most likely, the same error will occur.
Also do the following checks
" ps -ef | grep pmon "
" ps -ef | grep smon "

If both are not up then Oracle has not been brought up

Other possible problems could be the listener process or SQLNet problems.

Other possible problems is that the ORACLE_SID is not being exported correctly. Make sure to check the all_paths_list in the $BASE/files/config directory for exporting the ORACLE_SID correctly. Also check the whse.map, whse_schema.map, and whse_schema_ded.map files to make sure these are setup correctly. To help trouble shoot to make sure the correct values are being exported, you can modify the whmenu script to echo all of the values in question (ORACLE_SID, DBPASSWD, DBUSERID, WHS, etc).
