Opening TM1 Perspectives generates a digital signature message

Troubleshooting

Problem

When opening TM1 Perspectives an error/warning appears, but clicking Enable Macros will still allow access to Perspectives.

Symptom

Microsoft Excel Security Notice

Microsoft Office has identified a potential security concern.

Warning: The digital signature has expired.

File Path: C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64\bin\tm1p.xla

Resolving The Problem

On the TM1 server machine ensure that all TM1 services including the TM1 admin server are running as an Administrative account rather than the local system account.

This may also be related to APAR PM91040, which is a known issue regarding the certificate. If so, this isn't something that can just be fixed by applying a new cert, as the cert is laid down on installation. This will be fixed in a future version.

There is no concern about security on this and the message can be safely ignored by clicking Enable Macros.

To make the message disappear, simply add the path to the tm1p.xla location to the trusted locations of Excel. To do that in MS Excel 2010 go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Trusted Locations and add new location

For Excel 2007 go to the Office Button > Excel Options > Trust Center > Trust Center settings > Trusted Locations and add new location
