nWMS: Execution flow of two step putaway

Troubleshooting

Problem

nWMS: Execution flow of two step putaway

Symptom

PART: Foundation 7x (nWMS)

How do you execute two step putaway tasks?

Cause

Resolving The Problem

The task type for two step putaway is configured to have complete task in multiple steps. The location (deposit) location will be associated to a staging location. In general, one zone will have one staging location, so all the locations in the zone will be pointing to the same staging location.

Now when the task is created for this task type, system creates only one task initially from source to destination location. During execution, since the task type says execute in multiple steps, after picking during deposit system suggests the drop-off location as a deposit location instead of actual deposit location. If user deposits inventory into drop-off location then system creates one more task with the same task type from drop-off to final destination location. User can also deposit directly into the final deposit location in the first go as well. In this case second task will not be created.

This is the same behavior in all 7x.
