Sterling TMS sendsthe Non-Tender alert to the shipper if a shipment has not been tenderedwithin a certain number of hours prior to the planned departure window.

Theshipper administrator defines the threshold that causes this alertto be sent. The administrator defines the Amount of TimePrior to Departure to Tender setting in the TenderingStrategies step of Shipper Configuration. This setting is also referredto as defining the tender time fence.

The following exampleshows how Sterling TMS processesthe Non-Tender alert.

• The shipper sets the Amount of Time Prior to Departureto Tender to 12 hours.
• The shipment has a planned departure window that starts 15 Mayat 2 p.m.
• If the shipment has not been tendered as of 15 May at 2 a.m. Sterling TMS sends thealert.

Only shippers can subscribe to this alert. The alert is notavailable to carriers.

Tendering a Shipment Without Orders

Sterling TMS also sendsthe Non-Tender alert when the following conditions occur.

1. You create a truckload shipment but have not assigned any ordersto this shipment.
2. The shipment reaches the tender time fence the shipper administratordefined in the Amount of Time Prior to Departure to Tender setting.
3. Sterling TMS sendsthe Non-Tender alert. The alert text states that "the bill cannotbe tendered because there are no shipments assigned to it."

Non-Tender Alert for Automatic Carrier Selection

Asa best practice shippers should subscribe to the Non-Tender alertif they plan to use automatic carrier selection in Sterling TMS. The systemsends the alert if there are problems that prevent a shipment frombeing automatically tendered.

The following examples show howyou can use this alert to manage tendering issues.

• Your organization is profiled in Tendering Strategies to do automaticcarrier selection but Sterling TMS cannot finda Route Guide rule that covers the shipment.
• No orders have been defined for the shipment so Sterling TMS cannot tenderit.
