Thin borders sometimes do not appear in TM1 Web dynamic reports

Troubleshooting


Problem

If a user adds a thin border on the top of the row in the format row of a dynamic report, it appears in report rows in Microsoft Excel and TM1 Perspectives. However, no borders are shown in report rows in TM1 Web.

Symptom

You will notice that the same report appears differently in TM1 Web and TM1 Perspectives.

Cause

There are differences with thin border handling between Microsoft Excel and TM1 Web.  The thin border on the top and left border of a cell is generally not processed or rendered. A 1/2 pixel border is rounded down to 0 pixels, which gives the appearance of no border.  The bottom and right borders get more weight. A 1/2 pixel border is rounded up to 1 pixel.

Resolving The Problem

There are two workarounds depending on what you want to achieve:
  1. You can use a bottom border as the top border of the cell below or a right border as the left border of the cell to the right.
  2. If you need a top border only, you can use a thicker top border in Excel. It will be reduced to a single pixel and will then appear in TM1 Web.
