Troubleshooting
Problem
When users are trying to run a dashboard, they receive following error:
We can't load the object, because it is missing a visualization definition.
Cause
Cognos Analytics Roles have been customized causing this error.
Since Cognos Analytics 11.0.5, new features were added to allow administrators to limit users functionalities.
Manage > Accounts > Cognos Analytics Role > Properties > Customizations > Features
Diagnosing The Problem
The applied permissions, capabilities, and features are fine to have the Cognos role run and execute dashboards.
At some point the configuration for that Cognos role got corrupted and the users of that role are not able to run dashboards.
The error appears:
We can't load the object because it is missing a visualization definition.
Resolving The Problem
Remove or roll back the Role customizations, reset the Cognos Analytics Role to default state then readded the required role customizations to the Cognos Analytics role to resolve the issue.
