Title:

Update to 2018.05.22 IBM testcase and ECuRep Alert

Abstract:

IBM is working to transform our tools for GDPR compliance. On 24 May 2018 both the IBM Boulder testcase and ECuRep servers will add an authenticated log-in using an IBM Support File Transfer ID and password (token). This method supports only secure protocols.

Many clients need to change their scripts to use the new authentication method and might need to update firewall rules for the new ECuRep Secure FTP Server. For clients needing more time to update their environments and processes, the current FTP process for ECuRep and Testcase will remain available until 21 June 2018.

IBM ECuRep and Testcase are GDPR-compliant. We are providing the new data transmission methods to allow clients to use encrypted protocols with authentication and improved traceability to their data. We encourage our clients to use the new functions as soon as possible to add additional data privacy protection.

Users Affected:

All users on all platforms that upload problem-related documentation to IBM using the ECuRep or Boulder testcase servers.

Description:

Effective 24 May 2018, all uploads of documentation to either the IBM Boulder testcase or ECuRep servers can be done via an authenticated log-in with an IBM Support File Transfer ID and password (token), and using a secure transport protocol, such as FTPS. The current FTP process for ECuRep and Testcase will remain available until 21 June 2018. After that, the authenticated log-in method must be used.

Recommended Actions:

Monitor the Support File Transfer Details page http://public.dhe.ibm.com/SupportFileTransferDetails.html for any changes or updates.

To use the authenticated log-in process:

  1. Ensure you have secure transport protocols in place, such as FTPS, and procedures for using the secure transport, including updates to existing JCL, jobs or tools including PDUU and z/OSMF.
  2. Create an IBM Support File Transfer ID. Links to create an IBM Support File Transfer ID and other related information on sending documentation to IBM will be available at http://public.dhe.ibm.com/SupportFileTransferDetails.html. Creating an IBM Support File Transfer ID requires an IBMid, so if you do not already have an IBMid follow the instructions at https://www.ibm.com/account/us-en/signup/register.html to create an IBMid.
  3. Change existing JCL, jobs or tools including PDUU and z/OSMF, to use the new IBM Support File Transfer ID and password (token) instead of anonymous and any password.
  4. The hostname for using FTPS to ECuRep will change from ftp.ecurep.ibm.com to ftps.ecurep.ibm.com.
