Troubleshooting
Problem
You may encounter a situation where you are unable to start your TM1 Application Server successfully.
Symptom
-Your TM1 Application Server service fails to start via Windows Services
-Your TM1 Application Server service has been started via Windows Services, however your URLs do not work
-Your TM1 Application Server service has been started via Windows Services, however your URLs do not work
-Even though the TM1 Application server is running, a java.exe process for the TM1 Application Server is not present in Task Manager
Diagnosing The Problem
It is possible that an error has occurred during startup that is not clearly written to the \logs\tm1_messages.log file. To troubleshoot, follow the steps below to start your TM1 Application Server in a console window that will allow you to uncover further details on startup.
- Open Command Prompt (as an Administrator)
- Set a JAVA_HOME environment variable to match the JRE that comes with Planning Analytics
- 2.0.5 and lower should reference <install_dir>\tm1_64\bin64\jre\7.0
- 2.0.6 and higher should reference <install_dir>\tm1_64\jre
- example: set JAVA_HOME=C:\PASupport\2x0x6\tm1_64\jre
- Navigate to <install_dir>\tm1_64\wlp\bin\
- Type: server run tm1
- Monitor the text in Command Line during the startup. Errors will be reported on this screen
