Troubleshooting


Problem

Testing Teredata JDBC connection with Cognos Analytics throws the following error 
XQE-GEN-0002 An unexpected exception occurred: com.teradata.tdgss.jtdgss.TdgssManager (initialization failure): Nullpointer exception.

Symptom

JDBC datasource connection fails

Cause

 tdgssconfig.jar is not placed under CA 11\drivers directory

Diagnosing The Problem

The cogserver logs will contain the following error message during the time of failure:
XQE-GEN-0002 An unexpected exception occurred: com.teradata.tdgss.jtdgss.TdgssManager (initialization failure): java.lang.NullPointerException</messageString></message></messages>

Resolving The Problem

1.Verify whether the tdgssconfig.jar is included in the CA11\drivers folder along with teradata jdbc driver.
2.Make sure the connection string provided is set correctly :
jdbc:teradata://<DatabaseServerName>/TMODE=ANSI,CHARSET=UTF16,DatabaseName=<DBNAME>
