Troubleshooting
Problem
Customer has assigned a user the role of 'Modeler' (in PA Workspace).
- In the }DimensionSecurity cube, customer has granted the Group (associated with the 'bad' user) both Write and Admin privileges on the Dimension.
User right-clicks on the Dimension and selects 'Edit Dimension'. An error appears.
Symptom
Unable to create the content of this widget. The dimension or hierarchy may have been removed or is inaccessible. Please contact your administrator to ensure you have sufficient rights to view this widget.
Cause
Both of the following are true:
(1) Dimensions are either:
- using aliases
- and/or using alternate hierarchies.
(2) User does not have WRITE access to the corresponding objects.
Resolving The Problem
If your dimension is using aliases, the user must have WRITE access to the corresponding attributes objects (the ones starting with }ElementAttributes_ ).
If your dimension is using alternate hierarchies, the user must have WRITE access to the corresponding hierarchy objects.
Example:
In one real-life customer example, the solution was to:
1. Grant WRITE access to }ElementAttributes (under Cube security)
2. Grant WRITE access to }HierarchyProperties
3. Refresh security.
