Restricting an order having held item (which was in published status earlier) to move from created status to scheduled status in IBM Order Management

Question & Answer

Question

How to avoid an order having held item (which was in published status earlier) to move from created status to scheduled status in IBM Order Management?

Cause

The order with item in held status can be scheduled while the inventory is available for it. Suppose an order is created with item (in published status) then move the status to held and try to schedule the order, as observed the order gets scheduled.
There are few options to restrict the order from getting scheduled and released if the status of the item used in the order is in held.

Answer

Below is the scenario mentioning different options to restrict an order for an item in held status getting scheduled/released -
1. Create an order.
2. Change the status of the item used to create the order from Published to Held.
3. Configurations to make avoid an order getting scheduled
    a. create a sourcing rule for the item (to avoid scheduling) whose sourcing rule detail includes one node that has no inventory,
    b. make item-node control to disable this item at nodes until a certain date,
    c. make inventory 0 at the node
    d. move inventory for the item from ONHAND to HELD inventory.
4. Schedule the order.
Now the order will maintain its current status i.e. created and will not be updated to scheduled status.
