Microsoft Internet Explorer and Edge Legacy browser limitations with Daeja ViewONE Virtual Viewer

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

Significant issues are observed in the Daeja ViewONE Virtual Viewer (HTML 5 viewer) when you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or Edge Legacy. Edge Legacy is the version of the Edge browser before the introduction of MS Edge Chromium. This document describes the known limitations.

Body

Following are the known Microsoft browser limitations.

Limitations that affect both IE11 and Edge Legacy

  • General performance is much slower than with other browsers.
  • Invert function is not supported.
  • Text searching in PDF documents is not supported.
  • Memory leaks occur in which the memory used by the browser continues to grow causing the browser to fail. The point of failure varies depending on how the viewer is integrated within an application.
  • Only native mode is supported (compatibility view modes are not supported).

IE11 specific limitations

  • Image Adjustment Controls are not supported.

Edge Legacy specific limitations

  • Direct Printing is not supported.
  • PDF documents do not render in Daeja ViewONE Virtual Viewer 5.0.9 interim fix 5 and later when PDF documents are rendered on the client with the default setting of clientPDFTileGeneration=true.
