Question & Answer
Question
Are there any known issues when migrating to a different content store? An example of this would be migrating from MS SQL Server to an Oracle content store.
Answer
Yes there may be some issues regarding a difference in the collation sequence and database specific queries.
Collation sequence:
The collation sequence determines the sorting order of characters in the content store. This can depend on the sequences' locale, case sensitivity (CI/CS) and accent sensitivity (AI/AS). Essentially this could return results in an unexpected order. More on setting up content stores with associated encoding and collation sequences for Cognos to work well can be found in the link below.
Database specific queries:
If any of your reports/packages contain calculations or SQL query items which contain these database specific queries or specified data types which are only applicable for a certain database these may no longer work as expected or at all.
