Troubleshooting
Problem
Get the following errors when a user (of a specific group or role) tries:
1) Uploading files
{"msg":"MSR_GEN_0069 Internal error trying to upload a file.","exceptionMsg":null}
2) Adding a package to a dashboard
The metadata for '<package>' did not load. Please contact your administrator for details
3) Creating a data module from an existing data module
"Could not create new module: CM-REQ-4012 You do not have the appropriate permissions to update or delete the object "<Path through namespace to the users CAMID>" or a related object."
However this may work for other users such as those in the system administrators role.
All capabilities set correctly for the affected users' groups and roles.
Cause
Incorrect permissions across the users' groups and roles capabilities.
Incorrect permissions across the namespace in which the user is located.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve incorrect permissions across the users' groups and roles capabilities:
1) As an admin, go to manage -> admin console -> security -> capabilities.
2) Ensure the correct capabilities for the group/role are enabled to use each of the features (can be found in the capabilities document link below). Traverse and execute are needed to use the features.
3) Ensure that in the capabilities screen in the top right, select set properties and ensure the everyone group is located here with the traverse permission granted. This is needed for the group to have any access to any of the capability features.
To resolve the incorrect permissions across the namespace in which the user is located:
1) As an admin, go to manage -> admin console -> security -> users, groups and roles.
2) Click set properties on the namespace the users are a part of.
3) Go to permissions and ensure that the everyone group with read permissions is present. Also make sure that the namespace itself is present, this will need to have read and traverse permissions.
