SoundMax integrated digital audio signature not found - IBM IntelliStation M Pro (Type 6868, 6878)/IntelliStation Z Pro (Type 6866)

Resolving The Problem

Symptom
An IBM IntelliStation may display an error message informing the user that the digital signature for the SoundMax audio is not found.

Problem Isolation Aids
The above symptom may occur on the following systems:

IBM IntelliStation M Pro (Type 6868, 6878)
IBM IntelliStation Z Pro (Type 6866)

The operating system is Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.

The error message may be seen when viewing the Driver tab in the Properties window of the SoundMax audio driver, or after using the Recovery CD.

Solution
The error message can be safely ignored as the device driver is working as required.

To rid the system of the insignificant error message, the user can download and install the latest SoundMax audio driver.

A SoundMax audio driver file D69Z28US.EXE is also available on the above web document, but these drivers do not contain a logo, nor are they digitally signed by Microsoft. Downloading and
installing this driver would present the same issue as the "SYMPTOM" mentioned above.
