Symptom

When using the web interface to enable SNMP (by typing in all the information at the same time you enable it), the service processor reverts back to SNMP disabled after the restart.

Affected configuration

The system is the IBM eServer xSeries 220, type 8645, any model.

The system is configured with the following option:

  • IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter, option part number 09N7585, replacement part number (FRU) 36L9912

The following network operating systems (NOS) are affected:

  • Microsoft Windows NT
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server

The TUET15A Firmware for the IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter is affected.

Workaround

Enabling SNMP (using the web interface) requires these separate steps:

  1. Enter all the information (i.e. Community, IP address, etc.).
  2. Save the settings.
  3. Now you may enable SNMP.

  • There is not a fix at this time for the symptom described above.
  • IBM is continuing to identify what the problem is and how to fix it.
  • This tip will be updated when the problem is corrected.
