1.0 Before installing Windows 2000

This document provides Netfinity system users with the installation instructions for a basic Windows 2000 Server installation process. Windows 2000 Server presents many different installation options. You might install or uninstall options that will allow maximum performance from your Netfinity server. This might result in windows and messages that will differ from those in this document. Be sure to follow these instructions for installing Windows 2000 precisely to ensure that you install Windows 2000 correctly. Windows 2000 allows you to install components after you have completed the installation process. Determine if the system is equipped with an IBM ServeRAID card. If you have equipped the systems, please review the Appendix before you proceed with the installation instructions in section 2.0.

NOTE: If you have a system that is equipped with a ServeRAID card, you must perform additional procedures.

2.0 Installation instructions

  1. Insert the Windows 2000 Setup CD into the CD-ROM drive and reboot system. The system will boot from the Windows 2000 Setup CD.
  2. The Windows 2000 setup screen will appear after a short delay. The Windows 2000 setup will take a few minutes to load The "Welcome to Setup" message will appear at the top right corner of the window. Press Enter to install the Windows 2000 Server.
