At a Glance

Combine the IBM IDE 100 RAID controller and economical IDE hard disk drives (HDDs) to configure a low-cost RAID solution for entry-level servers and workstations. The IDE 100 RAID controller:

  • Supports EIDE ATA-100 HDDs
  • Contains dual channels - Support for up to two HDDs
  • Links HDDs to create a single virtual drive
  • Supports popular RAID levels 0 and 1
  • Provides easy setup/configuration
  • Contains driver support for popular Windows and Linux network operating systems
  • Three-year, limited warranty provided by IBM

Overview

Protect data and improve performance of your entry-level server or workstation by using IDE RAID storage technology.

The IDE 100 RAID Controller delivers many basic RAID functions similar to that of higher cost SCSI RAID controllers, but at a fraction of the cost. This IDE RAID controller, combined with low-cost IDE HDDs, creates an economical, internal RAID storage subsystem for selected IBM eserver xSeries servers and IntelliStation workstations.

Solid function

This two channel, PCI bus mastering controller is smaller than a half-length adapter and supports popular RAID levels, including:

  • RAID striping (RAID 0) - Improves performance by using an array of drives set up as one virtual drive
  • Mirroring (RAID 1) - Provides fault-tolerance for high-availablity and data protection

In the event of a failed drive in an array (configured using RAID 1), the IDE 100 RAID Controller can rebuild data automatically in the background to a replacement drive. This helps:

  • Minimize disruption to network clients
  • Keep your business running smoothly

Ease-of-use

The IDE 100 RAID Controller is easy to install and set up. It contains simple configuration utilities that allow you to tailor your RAID subsystem to support:

  • Boot from the RAID configured array
  • Up to two HDDs per controller - One HDD(1) per channel
  • Desired RAID level

Compatibility

  • Supports popular network operating systems
  • Supports a range of high-performance, EIDE ATA-100 HDD options from IBM, such as 15 GB(2), 20.4 GB, 30 GB, and 40 GB

Warranty

3 year limited - customer carry in exchange

Packaging
You will receive one box containing the following items:

  • Controller card assembly
  • Utilities and drivers on CD-ROM
  • Two IDE cables
  • User's Guide/Warranty

(1) Maximum configuration of one hard drive per channel set to master.
(2) When referring to hard drive capacity, GB stands for one thousand million bytes. Total user-accessible capacity may vary depending on operating environments.
