General Information
The IBM 20/40GB DDS/4 Internal Tape Drive provides the right combination of capacity and performance demanded by today's entry to mid-range server and high-end desktop customers. Features include:

  • Wide Ultra-2 LVD interface, with standard 68-pin high density connector
  • Improved reliability
  • Downward read/write compatible to 4/10 GB DDS/2 and 12/24 GB DDS/3 tape drives
  • Sealed tape path for improved dust resistance
  • LVDS interface
  • 20GB (1) native capacity per cartridge
  • Fast 2.75 MB/s native transfer rate
  • Efficient hardware data compression (2)
  • Trim 3.5-inch or 5.25-inch HH form factor
  • Black bezel to match Netfinity and IntelliStation

(1) When referring to HDD capacity, GB = 1000 million bytes. Actual capacities may vary based on different operating environments.
(2) Most customers will see a 2X improvement in capacity and transfer rate when this feature is enabled, but since data compression is affected by many factors, degree of actual improvements may vary.
