At a glance

The new IBM DLT Tape Automation products, available for select Netfinity server systems, provide greater backup capability than previous tape options.
 
The 3502-108 DLT Tape Autoloader features include:

• Automated backups for mid-range to enterprise class servers
• 35 GB per cartridge capacity (70GB assuming 2:1 hardware compression)
• Removeable 6-cartridge magazine (plus 2 fixed slots)
• Maximum (compressed) total capacity of 560GB

Depending on the application software used, the 3502-108 supports both sequential and random access to all data cartridges, making it a cost-effective solution for first-time automation needs. The 3502-108 is available as a stand-alone desktop model only, but could be set on an appropriate fixed shelf in a rack configuration.

All models ship with a trial version of popular backup/restore options from CA and Seagate Software, supporting:

This trial software can be installed on a 'try and buy' basis or other software can be used.
 

Compatibility

Data cartridges written in the IBM 35/70GB DLT Internal Tape option (04K0149) or the IBM 20/40GB DLT Internal Tape Option (01K1320) are Read and Write compatible with the 3502 tape automation family.

Some configurations may not be supported.
