Android 6.05 - Bluebird Device Management

Release Notes

Abstract

MaaS360 provides OEM support for Bluebird Android devices

Content

MaaS360 announces a partnership with Bluebird to manage ruggedized Android devices on the MaaS360 platform. With this integration, administrators can easily enroll Bluebird devices into the MaaS360 portal by just scanning a QR code. Administrators can also easily install/uninstall enterprise apps to the managed devices. MaaS360 also provides support for new policies to control device settings and notification settings on Bluebird devices. Required 6.05 agent. This release marks the first phase of a series of enhancements to be made to the MaaS360 platform to integrate with Bluebird devices.

As a part of this release, MaaS360 supports the following features:

  • Zero-touch enrollment
  • Silent installation and uninstallation of enterprise apps
  • Secure policies
  • Silent installation and enforcement of Kiosk mode

Zero-touch enrollment Process

1. Create configuration file

The process involves enrolling all devices into MaaS360 with the same set of configuration using standard and easy steps. MaaS360 portal offers workflows for administrators to accomplish this by allowing the creation of standard enrollment templates called Android Bulk Enrollment Configuration profiles. These profiles typically contain pre-seeded inputs for quick and easy enrollments.

To create a configuration file,

1. Navigate to Devices > Enrollments.

Result: The Enrollments (Add Device Requests) page is displayed.

2. Click Other Enrollment Options > Android Configurator.

Result: The Download Apps & Configuration File window is displayed.

3. Click Edit to specify the configuration settings. The following configuration options are available:

Configuration Option

Description

Corporate ID

This is the Corporate Identifier that is defined in your Deployment Settings page

Prompt for Device name

As a part of the bulk enrollment process, the admin has an option to input the name of the device that shows up on MaaS360. If the admin needs to avoid this step, this option can be disabled. The device ID and model number will be used for the device name in MaaS360

Sign-in with default user

Bulk enrolling Android devices into MaaS360 marks the devices as shared devices. This means, a user can login to the MaaS360 app using credentials (Corporate or MaaS360 local credentials), and receive policies and apps that are distributed to the logged in user. Once the user is done using the device, the user logs out of the MaaS360 app which then removes any apps / policies distributed to the user profile.

With this option, the admin has the ability to automate this sign-in process by providing a default user’s credentials.

Enrollment shared secret

MaaS360 generates a shared secret that is embedded in the configuration profile that authenticates the bulk enrollment request.
