Problem

Collecting data for XML parser or XSL transformer problems in the IBM® WebSphere® Application Server. Gathering this MustGather information before calling IBM support will help you get familiarized with the problem and save IBM time in analyzing the data submitted.

Resolving The Problem

XML parser and XSLT transformer specific MUSTGATHER information:

Provide the following information to IBM support:

  1. Detailed problem description with application components and actions leading to the error. Error or warning message with corresponding Java™ stack.
  2. SystemOut.log or SystemErr.log server logs files containing the error.
  3. Standalone test cases to reproduce the problem which should include:
    • Java source code
    • XML Documents
    • DTDs
    • XML schemas
    • XSLT stylesheets
  4. Detailed steps required how to reproduce the problem with testcase provided.
  5. Parser and transformer versions:
    1. For WebSphere Application Server release v7.0, 8.0 & 8.5:
      • Version of XML4J (java org.apache.xerces.impl.Version). To find the version, run the following from a command line: install_root/java/jre/bin/java org.apache.xerces.impl.Version
      • Version of XLXP-J (java com.ibm.xml.xlxp.scan.Version). To find the version, run the following from a command line: install_root/java/jre/bin/java com.ibm.xml.xlxp.scan.Version
      • Version of XLTXE-J (java org.apache.xalan.Version). To find the version, run the following from a command line: install_root/java/jre/bin/java org.apache.xalan.Version
      • Version of Serializer (java org.apache.xml.serializer.Version). To find the version, run the following from a command line: install_root/java/jre/bin/java org.apache.xml.serializer.Version
    2. For WebSphere Application Server release v6.1 & v6.0:
      • Version of XSLT4J (java org.apache.xalan.Version). To find the version, run the following from a command line: install_root/java/jre/bin/java org.apache.xalan.impl.Version
      • Version of XML4J (java org.apache.xerces.impl.Version). To find the version, run the following from a command line: install_root/java/jre/bin/java org.apache.xerces.impl.Version
  6. The exact SDK level (for example: 1.4.2 SR3, 5.0 SR1)
  7. Operating System (for example: Windows, AIX, Solaris, and so on)

Once the required data has been collected, follow instructions to send diagnostic information to IBM support.
