Add Tender Notification Rules Page

Use the Add Tender Notification Rules page to configurehow you want each Sterling TMS shipperto submit shipment tenders to your organization. You can set up tendernotification rules for each shipping lane and mode.

To createor update a tender notification rule define the following settings:

SCAC

Enter a SCAC if you want to define a tender notification rulefor a specific fleet.

By default the rule applies to all thefleets in your organization.

Effective Date

Select the date that the tender notification rule goes intoeffect.

Expiration Date

Select the date that the tender notification rule expires.If you leave the date blank the rule will not expire.

Origin and Destination

Enter the origin and destination of the shipping lane thatis covered by the tender notification rule. The origin and destinationcan be an area such as a city state or postal code.

You havethe following options:

  • Enter a complete area name. Sterling TMS displays thatname on the right side of the page.
  • Enter the beginning of a name and then press Enter. Sterling TMS returns allareas that start with those letters. If Sterling TMS returns multiplenames the origin or destination list box displays a red border. Youcan then select the area you want.
  • Click Select to choose an area.
  • Click Create to define an area.
Notes:
  • You can also select a location as the origin or destination. Alocation is a facility that one of your shippers defined. When youselect a location Sterling TMS doesnot validate that the location belongs to the shipper covered by thetender notification rule.
  • You can make the origin or destination as general or specificas you want. For example you can set the origin and destination toNorth America or World to cover all domestic and international shipmentsyou deliver for the shipper.
Mode

Select the transportation mode such as Truckload or LTL.The Tender EDI options change based on whichmode you select.

The default mode is Truckload.

Movement Type

Select an option such as Outbound or Inboundto limit the tender notification rule to shipments that use this movementtype.

The default movement type is Interplant.

Service Type

Select an option such as Single or Team fortruckload shipments to limit the tender notification rule to shipmentsthat use this service type.

The default service type is All.

Tender EDI

Select one of the following tendering options:

EDI 204
You want to receive tenders for the selected mode as EDI 204 transactions.
EDI 211
You want to receive tenders for LTL shipments as EDI 211 transactions.You can only select EDI 211 when the mode isset to LTL.
None
You do not want to receive EDI tenders from the shipper for thislane and mode. The shipper must log on to Sterling TMS and tendershipments in Execution.

The default is None.

Equipment

Specifyone or more equipment types if you want to limit the tender notificationrule to shipments that use that equipment.

For example youcould define one truckload rule for dry vans and another rule forrefrigerated trucks.

  • Click Add to specify the equipment typeand size.
  • Select an entry and click Edit to updatethe equipment definition.
  • Select an entry and click Delete to removethis equipment definition from your tendering rule.

When you are done click Save tocreate or update the tender notification rule and return to the TenderNotification Parameters page.

Notes:
  • Sterling TMS doesnot provide a default Tender Notification Parameter rule. If you donot define a tendering rule for a shipper Sterling TMS uses yourdefault data exchange settings which you defined in Step 1 of CarrierConfiguration.
  • As a best practice you can receive EDI 211 tenders for LTL shipmentsif your shipper automatically assigns carrier PRO numbers to LTL shipments.
  • In addition to defining your data exchange settings in SterlingTMS you must contact your Sterling TMS carrier enrollmentspecialist to plan any changes to your EDI connectivity. The carrierenrollment specialist will work with you to ensure that Sterling TMS can processyour EDI transactions.
