Abstract

Occasional logical partition (LPAR) crashes are observed while performing live partition migration (LPM) for Linux partitions on IBM POWER9 systems when the LPAR is under heavy load.

Symptoms
While performing a live partition migration of a running LPAR on a POWER9 system, the LPAR might crash.

Workaround
No workaround exists for this issue.

Fix Outlook

The issue of LPAR crash is fixed in the following releases:
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12, Service Pack 5, kernel version 4.12.14-122.17.1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 Service Pack 1, kernel version 4.12.14-197.34.1
IBM is working closely with Red Hat to release a fix for this issue. The fix should come as part of a future RHEL maintenance release. Open a support ticket with Red Hat if a hotfix is needed before the next Red Hat maintenance release.
