Troubleshooting
Problem
When viewing saved PDF output in IE using the Adobe Reader browser plugin, there are multiple VIEW requests for just one report output. There could be thousands of VIEW requests depending on how many pages are in the PDF output.
This does not occur when viewing PDF output in Chrome.
Cause
This is caused by the way that the Adobe PDF viewer plugin works in IE. Rather than download the entire PDF output in a single request, it "streams" the output to the browser's viewer plugin by chunking the data. This results in multiple requests to download each chunk of the output.
Resolving The Problem
This can be resolved by turning off the Allow Fast Web View and Allow Speculative Downloading In The Background in the Adobe Acrobat settings.
- Open Adobe Acrobat
- Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Internet
- Disable Allow Fast Web View and Allow Speculative Downloading In The Background
