Troubleshooting
Problem
When a user launches Excel and signs into Planning Analytics (PA) for Excel, they are unable to get the task pane to display.
Symptom
Error thrown by PA for Excel:
"Specified restriction conflicts with the current dock position"
Cause
Exact cause is unknown.
Diagnosing The Problem
- Launch Excel
- Sign into PA for Excel
- Click "Task Pane" to display the task pane.
Error will be thrown.
Resolving The Problem
Reset the user's Cognos Office settings. To do this:
- Close Excel and make sure there are no Excel.exe processes running in Task Manager
- Navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Cogno
s - Delete the folder "Office Connection"
- Relaunch Excel / PA for Excel. This will recreate the "Office Connection" folder and files.
Retest with PA for Excel to confirm the issue is resolved.
