Editing or changing "Absolute Number" of a DOORS object

Question & Answer

Question

Is it possible to edit or change the "Absolute Number" of an object in IBM Rational DOORS?

Cause

Once an absolute number has been assigned to an object, that number is not used again in the module, even if the module is closed without saving the new object. So, if you import a document into a new module and then change your mind and exit the module without saving, the next object that is created will not start at 1. Because copying a module carries with it the object numbers this makes it difficult to create a project template and reuse it by copying.

Answer

No. Absolute number is the unique number that gets generated automatically by DOORS as objects are created. In DOORS, the attribute "Absolute Number" is a system attribute which is "READ Only" for the objects. You can't edit or change the system attributes that are read only.
