Summary
How to create an IASP with one disk unit
Objective
The special instructions for HIPER fixes for DT397753 require an IASP be varied off and on to activate the fix.
If varying off one of the existing IASP would cause an outage for the business, consider creating a temporary IASP with one disk unit.
Steps
Create the IASP
- Ensure there is a non-configured disk unit available for a new IASP
- Use the CFGDEVASP ASPDEV(TEMPIASP) ACTION(*CREATE) TYPE(*PRIMARY) command to create a temporary IASP
NOTE: The temporary IASP must be created as TYPE(*PRIMARY).
To fulfill the special instructions in the fix cover letter
- Use the VRYCFG command to vary on the temporary IASP, or WRKDEVD *ASP, opt8, opt1
- Use the VRYCFG command to vary off the temporary IASP, or WRKDEVD *ASP, opt8, opt2
Delete the IASP
- Use the CFGDEVASP *DELETE command to delete the temporary IASP
