QRadar EDR: Important update on QRadar EDR Windows agent supported OS versions

Abstract

IBM has updated the list of supported Windows Operating Systems for its QRadar EDR agent.

IBM QRadar EDR agent for Windows will cease to support the following Windows Operating System versions:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 (SP2) 32-bit
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 (SP2) 64-bit
  • Windows client 7 (SP1) - 32-bit
  • Windows client 7 (SP1) - 64 bit
  • Windows 8 - 32 bit
  • Windows 8 - 64 bit
  • Windows 8.1 - 32 bit

Starting from the EDR agent version 3.11.1, the code-signing certificate for the EDR agent has been updated for security and compliance reasons. The previously listed Windows Operating System versions have been declared End Of Life by Microsoft: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/?terms=Windows.

Such OS versions do not support the verification for the new signature and as a result, the system fails the automatic loading of the agent drivers. Since Microsoft does not provide support for EOL OS versions, we are forced to stop supporting them.

The QRadar EDR Windows agent 3.11.0 is the last supported version that can run on these EOL OS versions.

Please plan the EDR agent updates carefully, by grouping together unsupported endpoints and excluding them from automatic updates delivery to preserve the agent running and plan the phase out.
