Abstract
QMGTOOLS System Snapshot (SYSSNAP) may delete data in the Integrated File System (IFS) incorrectly when Collect default info (COLLECTDFT) parameter is set to N AND ZIP(Y) is specified.
The default COLLECTDFT parameter is set to Y (YES), but allows change to N.
The affected releases of QMGTOOLS are for R730, R740 and R750 build dates of 5/29/2024, 6/7/2024, 6/11/2024 and 6/17/2024

ENVIRONMENT:
The affected QMGTOOLS build dates are 5/29/2024, 6/7/2024, 6/11/2024 and 6/17/2024.
Please check the current version:
a) GO QMGTOOLS/MG and take option 12
or
b) CALL QMGTOOLS/QGETVER.
This does not affect the R720 version of QMGTOOLS.
CAUSE:
When the SYSSNAP function is used with ZIP(Y) it cleans up the data after it is zipped. Changes made in 5/29 exposed the issue where the parent directory of the location of the data was deleted rather than just the /SYSSNAP directory. The default directory path for SYSSNAP is '/tmp', but may be changed by the user. This is only affected when COLLECTDFT parameter is set to N.
RESOLUTION:
Upgrade QMGTOOLS to build date June 27, 2024 (06/27/2024). Extra steps have been taken to ensure only the SYSSNAP directory will be removed when specified.
Steps to upgrade QMGTOOLS
If the IBM i allows network connection:
Download and Update in one Command:
1. QMGTOOLS/CMPVER NOPROMPT(Y) TRYFIRST(*HTTPS) FRCDWNLD(Y)
2. Verify new version with CALL QMGTOOLS/QGETVER or GO QMGTOOLS/MG and take option 13.
Verify this indicates at least build date of 6/27/2024 or later
