When upgrading InfoSphere MDM, the target upgrade_mdm does not include 11.6.0.x and 12.0.0.x as options for the current product version

Troubleshooting

Problem

When you invoke the madconfig target upgrade_mdm, you are prompted to provide the starting version of the product that you want to upgrade ("Enter the MDM version").
The list of valid responses to this prompt are 11.0.0, 11.3.0, 11.4.0, or 11.5.0. It is not possible to provide any 11.6.0.x (such as 11.6.07) or 12.0.0.x (such as 12.0.0.1) version as input.

Resolving The Problem

To work around this problem:
  1. Go to the directory <MDM_INSTALL_DIR>/mds/scripts.
  2. Edit the file upgrade_mdm.properties to provide the details of the previous InfoSphere MDM deployment, including the version number.
  3. Invoke the upgrade_mdm target by passing in the upgrade_mdm.properties file as the propertyfile to the madconfig command. For example:
./madconfig.sh upgrade_mdm -propertyfile upgrade_mdm.properties
