Using FSFC with VGFC and multiple host connections

General Page

Volume Group Flash Copy creates new volumes which will be mapped to the host connections specified. If there are multiple host connections, then additional steps are required to ensure the load source volume is placed on the host connection with the fiber channel port which is tagged for IO.
When multiple host connections are specified in WRKCSE opt 16 for FSFC VGFC environments, the toolkit will distribute the volumes equally across the hosts. As the toolkit is not aware which volume is the load source, nor which host is tagged for IO, it is possible that the load source will not be placed on the host tagged for IO.
The following changes to the volume and host names will indicate to the toolkit which host the load source must be placed on:
  1. The volume name of the load source must contain the characters __ls__
  2. The host name containing the port tagged for IO must contain the characters __ls__
