How To
Summary
The Auxiliary Storage Summary report gathers storage related information (disk, ASP, temporary storage, balancing, etc.) all in one place so you don't have to dig around for all of it yourself.
Steps
If you don't already have the IBM i Support MustGather tools installed, or it's not up to date, please see the following document for install and update instructions - https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/645929
The Auxiliary Storage Summary can be initiated using any of the following methods:
- GO QMGTOOLS/MG, option 16, option 7
- GO QMGTOOLS/INTMNU, option 7
- QMGTOOLS/DSPASPSUM
The Auxiliary Storage Summary report is written to a spooled file and consists of the following sections:
- Storage summary: Based on WRKSYSSTS, but also calculates temporary storage as a percentage of the system ASP and total auxiliary storage
- ASP list: Provides details such as type of ASP, number of units, amount used and unused, storage threshold, overflow state and status
- Balance status: Shows if balancing or tracing is active, if any units are marked for end allocation, and balance control "knobs"
- NVMe device list: Shows details such as resource name, location code size, available space, number of name spaces, remaining life and locking policy
- Non-configured unit list: Includes type, model, serial number, SSD or not, number of paths, and if RAID protected by IBM i
- Disk unit list: Units are grouped by ASP and list unit number, type, model, serial number, if SSD or not, number of paths, size, percent full, and protection status
