IT43580: 'mqconfig' utility reports incorrect required version of AIX forMQ 9.3

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• An MQ installation was upgraded on AIX from MQ v9.1.0.5 to MQ
  v9.3.0.4.
  
  After the upgrade completed, the 'mqconfig' utility was run to
  validate the system requirements.  The 'mqconfig' utility
  reported the following message:
  
  $ /usr/mqm/bin/mqconfig -v 9.3
    mqconfig: IBM MQ V9.3 requires AIX 7.2 Technology Level 2 or
  later.  This AIX
              7.2 installation is at Technology Level 4.
  
  The system AIX OS level was reported as:
  
  $ oslevel -s
  7200-04-01-1939
  
  indicating that the AIX version reported by 'mqconfig' was
  correctly stated as:
    7.2 installation is at Technology Level 4.
  
  Yet 'mqconfig' also reported that MQ V9.3 requires:
    7.2 installation is at Technology Level 2 or later

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  Users of MQ v9.3 on AIX 7.2 who are running the 'mqconfig'
  utility while the version of AIX was earlier than:
  
    AIX 7.2 Technology Level 5
  
  
  Platforms affected:

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The minimum version of AIX 7.2 required to use MQ 9.3 is:
  
    AIX 7.2 Technology Level 3
  
  as reported in the IBM MQ 9.2 System Requirements documentation.
  
  
  However the 'mqconfig' utility was coded to report a problem if
  the version of AIX was less than:
  
    AIX 7.2 Technology Level 5
  
  
  Furthermore, if 'mqconfig' reported that your version of AIX 7.2
  did not meet the requirements for MQ 9.3, it would incorrectly
  report that the minimum required version was:
  
    AIX 7.2 Technology Level 2
  

Problem conclusion

• The 'mqconfig' utility has been updated to check and report that
  the required version of AIX is:
  
    AIX 7.2 Technology Level 3
  
  
  For example, if the version of AIX which MQ 9.3 is installed on
  is:
  
    AIX 7.2 Technology Level 1
  
  then the utility will correctly report:
  
  $ /usr/mqm/bin/mqconfig -v 9.3
  mqconfig: IBM MQ V9.3 requires AIX 7.2 Technology Level 3 or
  later.  This AIX
            7.2 installation is at Technology Level 1.
