APAR status

Error description

  • The compiler front end doesn't properly represent ADDRESS OF
    parameters to various intrinsic functions like BIT-OF and HEX-OF
    in the intermediate language, leading to the back end assertion
    in WCodezOSSystemOSLinkage.
    

Local fix

  • Set a pointer to the ADDRESS OF some-item, and use the pointer
    in the function call.

    When the argument of the HEX-OF/BIT-OF intrinsic function was of
    the form ADDRESS OF <unbounded table>", the compiler was
    inadvertently treating the result value as being dynamic in
    length instead of having a fixed length.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler was updated so that when an argument of the form
    "ADDRESS OF <unbounded table>" is used in the HEX-OF/BIT-OF
    intrinsic function, the result value is understood to be fixed
    in length.
