Information listing the fixes and changes put into each PTF for IBM Navigator for i. Starting with the November 2021 PTFs after initial release of New Navigator.

Q4 2022
The following enhancements to Navigator are included:
    • New table for QSYSOPR Inquiry messages (unanswered) –for all monitored systems 

    • System Monitor –added launch to new tab 

    • IFS tree enhancements  

    • Sort order of tree data 

    • Filter improved for main level and any open folders 

    • Properties panel enhancements and related actions 

    • Expanding icon adjustment, locale fixing, more available columns, etc 

    • Active Jobs > SQL Details – SQL Formatting added 

    • Disk Watcher Definition 

    • History Log – changed to lazy load table, improves performance for large amount of data 

    • Performance Data Investigator (PDI) 

    • Plans Detailed perspective – changed to display Plan Cache Limit and show Plan Cache Threshold only on tooltips 

    • Define Health Indicators & saving changes 

    • Filtering by seconds improved for when collection timestamps are not ‘00’ 

    • Job Watcher Interval Details panel will now show SQL statement when available.  Selecting “Include Host variables” will fill in values for ‘?’ where available 

     

    • Cryptographic Services on the GUI 

    • Export will be coming in next release 

    • Tape Devices: Display, Add, Change and Remove 

    • Directory Monitors: Start, End, Display, Add, Change and Remove 

    • Output Queue Monitors: Start, End, Display, Add, Change and Remove 

    •  All Content Manager OnDemand functions from heritage navigator are now available. 

    • Additional function usage IDs have been added for NetServer file share, file system functions and AJS 

    • An initial delivery of Advanced Job Scheduler (AJS) is included.  See the AJS page for more details. 

    • Memory Pools - Added Total Memory Pool Size 

Fixes to the following issues are included:

 
    • Java password - security change to char array 

    • TLS connection fix - The TLS connection node status icon was not accurate and the metrics were not updated.  The status icon and metrics will now be updated. 

    • System values fix - some international values not working as expected  

    • Fix to message monitors which would not allow adding an excluded message.  An excluded message can now be added even if it is not covered by the monitored messages. 

    • Several GUI fixes to Packet Rules panels 

    • Several GUI fixes to IDS 

    • Fix to naming of favorites for Active Jobs 

    • Fix to PDI  

    • Timeline charts 

    • Improved viewing new collections with refresh 

    • Seconds have been added to the x-axis labels for charts 

    • Cannot retrieve the function usage information for user. Function usage ID is QIBM_NAV_ALL_FUNCTION using TLS - NullPointerException has been fixed 

    • File share path name can be pasted or input where previously a space in the name was not allowed 

    • EIM identifiers: 

    • Users with names that contain special accent characters and theta characters are now accepted 

    • History log table - filter mode was changed to ">=" for the Severity column 

    • For an issue with the TCP/IP Server list loading process, optimization has been performed for more efficiency 

    • QNEWNAVSRV.NEWNAV procedure: 

    • The SQLPATH is now set to use *LIBL.  The library list at runtime usage is a commonly used setting and will allow more success for users. 

    • The QNEWNAVSRV library will be created on the system auxiliary storage pool. 

    • Dashboard layout issue fix 

    • IAS instance IBMARE status issue fixed 

    • Hover text in Permissions panel fixed to be more relevant 

    • IFS Permissions panel fully displays permissions table 

Delivering the following RFEs:
  • Multisystem qsysopr message queue  IBMI-I-2589
  • Customize help for IPvX version based on OS release IBMI-I-3467
  • Add NetServer Disabled column to the default view of Disabled Users for IBM i NetServer IBMI-i-3477


Q3 2022
The following enhancements to Navigator are included:
  • Home page updates
  • File System - IFS Tree View & tree table support
  • Bookmarks - Hostname support has been added to bookmarks
  • Performance Data Investigator (PDI) updates
    • All license checks have been removed.  There is no longer a requirement to have 5770-PT1 options installed to see all perspective packages (including Job Watcher, Disk Watcher, Database, and PEX).
    • Perspective updates:
      • Perspectives with > 10,000 result rows will be lazy-loaded.  This will be more efficient.  The user can select the results in the context panel
      • Top Contributors can now be modified for perspectives with a limited result set.  Users can modify the number of result rows returned, or request "All".  For large systems with many jobs, threads, or tasks, selecting "All" might extend the time to display results significantly.
      • Two perspectives - Job Stats by Job and Job Statistics by Generic Job, will now allow filter when drilled-down to.  This result set size is minimized by narrowing the time-scope of the query:
        • From CPU Utilization and Waits- drill down to Job Statistics by Job
        • From Job Statistics by Job- drill down to Job Statistics by Generic Job
    • Disk Watcher - function and definition handling is added
    • Job Watcher - definition handling is added
  • Monitors
    • System Monitor Visualization panel has been recreated in IBM Navigator.  This allows viewing of all the metrics monitored by one monitor on a single panel.
    • Authority management panel added.  From Message or System Monitors, go to Actions > Monitor Permissions
      • In order to let *USER profiles to view monitors and event logs, administrators (with *ALLOBJ authority) need to grant access to each user.
        • For Message Monitors:
          • View monitors and event logs
          • Change monitors
        • For System Monitors:
          • View monitors and event logs
          • Change monitors
          • View monitor charts
        • Monitor GUI supports the authority management, administrators can grant or remove read access for specific *USER profiles.
  • System - System Operator Messages:
    • Only unanswered Inquiry messages will be displayed with the selection of "Inquiry Messages" radio button
      • This function delivery fulfills a customer requested RFE (Request for Enhancement, now called Idea)
  • Security - Intrusion Detection is now available
    • This function delivery fulfills a customer requested RFE (Request for Enhancement, now called Idea)
  • Security - Audit Journal updates
    • The weekly and detail view now can now be opened in a new tab
    • New Audit Configuration screen:
      • Displays the auditing action, the associated audit entry types, and whether the action is enabled or disabled
      • Detects if auditing is turned off, and will assist you in turning it on when an action is enabled
    • The graphs and detail view can be filtered by user profile in the view configuration dialog
    • The new chart properties dialog allows you to configure chart color, auto-refresh interval, and sort
    • Lazy load has been implemented for the detail view to solve out of memory errors.  More changes to this are coming soon.
      • For time intervals that will return more than 500,000 rows of data, the server will time out, and the GUI will show the spinning "loading" icon indefinitely.  This can be resolved by clicking "actions", then "View Configuration", and selecting a shorter time interval.
  • Network - IP Policies > Packet rules list and actions are added
  • Network - TCP/IP Servers > Directory Server (LDAP) - Manage Instances, the LDAP instances list and actions are added
  • Network - TCP/IP Configuration > Lines - minor updates to strings used
  • Active Jobs updates
    • Basic, Work, and All selections for varying level of results.  This allows a large system with large number of jobs to use "Basic" and see better performance.
    • SQL Details panel is now available for one selected job. 
Fixes to the following issues are included:
  • Update to a message monitor could fail with an error because of an incorrect check for the QSYSOPR message queue.
  • EIM mapping will accept an EIM registry with a special character and avoid error NAV_107055.
  • TLS connection now supports certificate chain of 3 or greater.
Delivering the following RFEs:
  • 53158 New Nav - Work Management tables/panels need to retrieve ALL ASP objects, not just SYSBAS
  • 53731 - Enable IBM Navigator for i to access servers running older OS releases - Change and Configuration Management
  • 50777 - A way to configure and use IDS (Intrusion Detection System) without heritage Navigator

June 2022
The following changes to Navigator are included:
  • Performance Data Investigator (PDI) updates
  • SSO - How to Configure IBM Navigator for i For Single Sign On (SSO)
  • IASP information added to main system dashboard
  • IPP Admin
    • Configuring IPP printers
    • Start and stop the HTTP QIPPSVR 
    • Create the IAS server for IPP
  • Subsystem routing updates
  • ObjectConnect for Db2 Mirror - start, stop, server jobs and properties actions now supported
  • Permissions added to My Objects, my IFS Objects, User owned objects, and File Shares
  • Audit Journal updates
    • Fixed dates so that they are the same between the chart view and detail view
    • Fixed weekly chart so that it has points for days where the entry count is zero
    • Added advanced filtering to columns with pre-defined values in the detail view
Fixes for the following:
  • A problem that the ‘@’ character used as part of the SNDSMTPEMM trigger command was incorrectly translated on a German-language system.
  • the IP Address-based and User-based alternative subsystem routing can be added without causing the other to be removed

  • A fix for a problem when configuring EIM.  Previous to this fix, when joining an existing remote domain, the local registries were not always created.  Now the NAS is selected to be configured during EIM configuration, and the local registries are created.

April/May 2022
It is highly recommended to clear the browser cache after applying this PTF.
Note:  The default value for function Usage ID QIBM_NAV_ALL_FUNCTION is changed to *DENIED on the first install of this PTF (or a future PTF if this one is skipped).  The change will happen only one time on this install, or a future PTF installation.
With increased focus on security, user profiles that previously were allowed to access IBM Navigator for i function might now be restricted.  To allow user access, refer to the Function Usage ID table at IBM Navigator for i - Function Usage IDs
The following changes to Navigator are included:
  • Angular & PrimeNG upgrade - might change column layout of some tables
  • SMTP properties
  • New Audit Journal support:
    • View bar chart of audit journal entry counts for one day
    • View graph of audit journal entry counts for a week
    • View detailed information for each entry type in a table
Fixes for the following:
  • The original shipped default value for the QIBM_NAV_ALL_FUNCTION function usage ID was *ALLOWED.  With this PTF, the shipped default value for the QIBM_NAV_ALL_FUNCTION function usage ID is changed to *DENIED. This change means that user profiles that previously were allowed to access IBM Navigator for i function, might now require a change to continue to access the same functionality.  Refer to the Function Usage ID table on the support page for IBM Navigator for i.
  • When migrating monitors from heritage Navigator for i while the heritage monitor job QINAVMNSRV was ended, the “started” status in the status column was not correct.  It is no longer available in the table provided when migrating monitors.

  • Network Authentication Service (NAS) wizard now adds keytab entries with the realm (or domain) in uppercase since the standard requires the realm be in uppercase.  Example:  krbsvr400/systemname@ABC.COM

February 2022
Note:  With this PTF, the heritage Navigator is no longer started by default.  If you do not want the heritage Navigator monitors to be running, stop any monitors before applying the PTFs.  
The following changes to Navigator are included:
  • Default URL for Navigator is now http://hostname:2001 or https://hostname:2010
  • Heritage Navigator is no longer running by default

Fixes for the following:
  • EIM configuration no longer allows for identifier names with spaces and restricts some characters.  The characters (, = + > < # ; \ * ") are not allowed.
  • New Navigator for i lacks option to re-enable multiple NetServer users
  • Server tab added (previously function could be used by selecting the Columns dialog)
  • Fixed problem when query results for QSYS.USER_INFO table were not coming out correctly for some languages.
  • In Active Jobs, sorting IO Count and Relative Record Number was not correct.  They are now sorted correctly as numbers.
  • An issue with a dollar sign used in a profile name caused NAV_300002: Unexpected Error in specific sections, and some "My work" functions did work.  Now the dollar sign is supported for a user profile.
  • Using a filter for creating date (timestamp) on Printer Output caused SQL0414 - is fixed.

December 2021
The following changes to Navigator are included:
  • Added function to copy system monitors from one system to another in your managed systems list.
  • Custom chart IASP support - metrics now supports SQL targeting Database IASPs.  The IASP is set for the target system in the Configure Charts dialog.
  • Authority collection support and updates to the user-based collections.
    • New filter options to better help user digest and understand the authority collection data.
  • VPN IKE policy: The Internet Key Exchange (IKE) policy defines what level of authentication and encryption protection IKE uses during phase 1 negotiations.
  • Performance Data Investigator (PDI) updates
Fixes for the following:
  • Monitor server job QNAVMNSRV not starting

November 2021
The following changes are included:
  • Fix for using custom charts when a system is configured for TLS.
  • Fixed dashboard sorting of the CPU and usage column correctly when in list or table view.
  • Fix for displaying PTFs (Configuration and Service - Program Temporary Fixes (PTF) Which previously failed with the following error:
    • Error: NAV_308100: Failed to retrieve the program-temporary fixes Details:[SQL0206] Column or global variable PTF_SUPERSEDED_BY_PTF not found
  •  Fixed ability to paste an SQL statement for a new Metric in Custom Charts.
  • Using "My Printer Output" (New Navigator for i Interface) shows all the user profile's spooled file, like the WRKSPLF command.
    • Spooled files in other output queue for the logged-on user are not shown. Only spooled files located in QPRINT, QEZJOBLOG, and the user profile's output queue are shown for the logged on user.
  • Now provided from Action menu of System Monitors:
    • Migration tool for migrating Heritage System Monitors to New Navigator.
    • Summary action displays all System Monitor properties on one page, including metrics list and commands specified. [RFE 33970 delivery]

  • Performance Data Investigator (PDI) updates:
    • Manage Collections enhancements:
      • Rebuild Collection Table Action now available
      • Correction to time zones shown and Browser Time now added as an optional column
    • Fix to error on Cycle Collection Services command
  • Cryptographic services are now available to secure sensitive data
    • Changed default user from QLWISVR to QWEBADMIN (PTF exit pgm update and code update)
  • A new feature is added under Configuration & Service to restart the iSCSI virtual I/O processor (IOP).  After changes are made to the iSCSI configuration, an IPL (or restart) of the iSCSI Virtual I/O Processor (IOP) must be done for the changes to take effect. The restart function initiates an IPL of the iSCSI IOP. Note:  If there are existing connections to the iSCSI target, they are ended. The system attempts to establish new connections to the iSCSI target based on the iSCSI configuration.
    • The following PTFs are required to get the SQL support - only on the endpoint systems:
      • 7.4:  SI76804 & requisites:  SI76805, SI76796, & MF68751 (superseded by TR5 PTF)
      • 7.3:  SI76923 & requisites:  SI76922, SI76803, & MF68750 (superseded by TR11 PTF)
