Problem
Unable to see images in the Cognos Administration area after upgrading to Cognos Analytics 11 or 12 from Cognos 10.x
Cause
The custom "Styles" created and used in Cognos 10 legacy areas were not saved and migrated over to Cognos 11/12 and the folder referenced no longer exists.
Diagnosing The Problem
After upgrading the content store database or importing the full content store export, the administration area(configuration tab, Styles section)now has references to a style that was created and used in Cognos 10.x but the folder where the files for the style were referenced from was not brought over and placed in the corresponding folder in Cognos Analytics 11 or 12. The folder in question is located in <install location>/webcontent/skins/<name of custom style>.
Resolving The Problem
There are a few ways to resolve this issue:
- If you have a copy of the Cognos 10.x custom style folder that was located in <install location>/webcontent/skins/ you can copy it from your Cognos 10.x environment and move it to the same location in your Cognos 11 or 12 environment, that way the references will be pointing to that folder again.
- You can create a new folder in your webcontent/skins/ area and label it with the same name as the referenced style and copy the contents of one of the other existing default styles into this folder and it will cause the references to be used again. It will only show the style of the theme you copied the contents from, but it will still work for the users and they can then select a different theme if they desire.
- You can manually remove the references of the custom style from your Cognos Administration area under the Configuration tab/Styles section. This should cause it to default back to one of the other styles that the user has available to them in their "My preferences" area.
