Understanding Planning Analytics Engine Database Backup Contents

Resolving The Problem

• NOTE: The Planning Analytics Engine database backup contents should not be modified, unless under the direction of IBM Support
  • Modifying contents may result in unexpected results or a corrupted backupset
  • Any issues that arise due to manual edits of backup contents, may be considered unsupported
• An example of an extracted Planning Analytics Engine database backup can be seen below
  • 
• At the root of the directory, the following can be found:
  • .tm1 (folder containing model metadata)
  • files (folder containing extra files found during migration, that will not be used by the PA Engine, as well as backupsets or blobs)
  • users (folder containing user sandbox cube deltas)
  • *.cub files (files containing cube data)
  • *.feeders files (files containing cube feeder data)
  • tm1s.cfg (PA Engine database configuration file)
• Within the \.tm1\metadata\ folder, the following can be found:
  • cubes
    • <cube_name>.json (file containing cube JSON, including cube rule)
    • <cube_name>.views (folder containing view JSON)
  • dimensions
    • <dimension_name>.json (file containing dimension JSON)
    • <dimension_name>.hierarchies (folder containing hierarchies JSON)
  • processes
    • <process_name>.json (file containing process JSON)
  • users
    • <user_name>.private views (file containing private view JSON)
    • <user_name>.private subsets (file containing private subset JSON)
    • user sandbox records
