Features introduced with version 10.2.2

Helpful videos demonstrating new features on Workload Automation YouTube channel.

Important information for version 10.2.2

FIPS compliance is not supported in the current product version. This is because OpenSSL 3.0 libraries do not provide a FIPS-compliant validation algorithm for P12 certificates. Development is in progress with the aim of supporting FIPS in upcoming releases. For more information, see Changed features and feature capabilities in version 10.2.2.

Important information for version 10.2.3

In upcoming version 10.2.3, master domain manager and Dynamic Workload Console will no longer be supported on AIX operating systems.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 is going out of support in June 2024. As a result, it will no longer be supported in IBM Workload Scheduler version 10.2.3.

Known limitations and workarounds

The following are software limitations and workarounds that affect Dynamic Workload Console 10.2.2:

Query in orchestration Monitor on non-existing folder
If you run a query in Orchestration Monitor on a folder which does not exist, the folder is automatically created.
The Become Master Domain Manager action performed using Orchestration Monitor fails on a Dynamic Workload Console connected to a back-level master
The Become Master Domain Manager action is supported only if the Dynamic Workload Console is connected to a master domain manager version 10.2.2.
Submitting a job with a recovery job defined on a workstation of type pool returns an error message
If you submit a job containing a recovery job on a pool workstation, an error message is returned stating that the pool workstation cannot be found. The same problem occurs when submitting the same job from the Submit predefined job menu option.
Workaround: You can perform the same operation from the command line.
Case-sensitive search bars in the Orchestration Monitor
The search bars in the Orchestration Monitor are case-sensitive.
Workaround
Enter the name of the item using uppercase letters only. Do not enter special characters.
Impossibility to save queries in the Orchestration Monitor page on Informix and OneDB databases.
Saving queries in the Orchestration Monitor page is not possible when using Informix and OneDB databases.
Impossibility to generate reports on Dynamic Workload Console installed on z/OS systems
The generation of reports in the Dynamic Workload Console fails when the Dynamic Workload Console is installed on z/OS systems.

Compatibility scenarios and limitations

You are strongly recommended to maintain all IBM Workload Scheduler components at the latest version level as regular maintenance activity. Keeping your environment consistent also ensures you can implement the new features available with each release.

Package structure

For a detailed list of available packages, see the 10.2.2 Quick Start Guide document available from IBM Fix Central.

Installing and upgrading to version 10.2.2

This section describes how to install and upgrade the Dynamic Workload Console to version 10.2.2.

Before getting started, verify that the following requirements are met:
  • The Dynamic Workload Console is active.
  • No user is connected to the Dynamic Workload Console to prevent the data related to their working session from being lost.
Installation notes
  • Ensure you have installed the required prerequisite software. To obtain the latest information about software requirements for IBM Workload Scheduler, run the Detailed Software Requirements report and browse to the relevant section.
  • The formal test phase was performed using WebSphere Application Server Liberty 24.0.0.3.
Note: Version 24.0.0.3 does not support installation paths containing spaces, for example C:\Program Files. If you installed any IBM Workload Scheduler components in a path containing spaces, do not upgrade WebSphere Application Server Liberty to version 24.0.0.3. You can continue using IBM Workload Scheduler with earlier versions.
The minimum required WebSphere Application Server Liberty version to successfully install the package is 23.0.0.9.

Installation and upgrade procedures

You can install the release using the procedure described in Installing from the CLI.

You can upgrade to the current release using the procedure described in Upgrading from the CLI.

If upgrading from a version earlier than 10.x on which you are using default certificates in your environment, convert the certificates before you start the upgrade, as described in Converting default certificates.

If your environment consists of components at various version levels, see Upgrading in a mixed-version environment when using default certificates.

If you plan to install on or upgrade an IBM Workload Scheduler component on a workstation running RHEL 9 or later with default certificates, see Installation or upgrade fails on RHEL version 9 and later.

If you are performing a parallel upgrade from version 9.4, ensure you set the Broker.Workstation.PortSSL property to false in the BrokerWorkstation.properties file, as described in Ensuring communication in your environment.

Disk space requirements

To obtain the latest information about permanent disk space requirements when installing on supported operating systems, run the Hardware requirements report and click on the relevant operating system link.

Documentation updates

Any additions or changes to the documentation as a result of this release have been integrated into the online product documentation available in IBM Workload Scheduler product information.
