    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When users attempt to initiate the IHS web server on the Windows
    operating system, it encounters a failure to start following the
    activation of ODRLIB.
    This problem stems from a byte buffer overflow leading to an
    unforeseen termination of the process. Notably, this issue seems
    exclusive to the Windows platform, as an extra slash in the
    format
    string is not adequately handled, triggering the malfunction.

Problem conclusion

  • To safeguard against the premature termination of the IHS web
    server, we have rectified the oversight concerning additional
    characters in the format string, thereby effectively mitigating
    the byte overflow issue.

    No further adjustments are necessary; simply install the
    provided fix pack to implement the resolution.

    The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
    8.5.5.26, 9.0.5.20.
