APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using IBM Storage Protect Plus to backup Exchange server,
    
    temporary files are being left behind on the main %SYSTEMDRIVE%
    
    
    (eg. 'c: drive') of the Exchange Server. These temporary files
    
    are taking up a lot of space and causing the %SYSTEMDRIVE% to
    
    become full.
    
    Please see following an example of the temporary files created:
     Dir of C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp_0ab12cd.as1
          date/time  1.319.806   tmp_00ab12cd.as1.format.ps1xml
          date/time           1.184   tmp_00ab12cd.as1.psd1
          date/time  1.834.870   tmp_00ab12cd.as1.psm1
    
    Microsoft Powershell "Import-PSSession" generates these files
    
    automatically. Normally these are deleted after the program
    
    exits, but sometimes these persist and eat up the space on the
    
    system drive.
    
    IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Versions Affected:
    IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.1x and later
    

Local fix

  • The SPP Exchange temp files in
    
       %SYSTEMDRIVE%\USERS%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp\<sub_dir>
    
    can be safely removed.
    When deleting the temporary files ensure no other job is running
    
    for IBM Storage Protect Plus Exchange.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem has been fixed so that the temporary files are
    removed are removed after backup.
